Sturt’s Desert Peas (Swainsona Formosa), seen on a leisurely walk with friends in the Australian National Botanic Gardens here in Canberra yesterday afternoon. These unique little flowers are native to the arid regions of Australia. They are also the floral emblem of the state of South Australia.
I have never seen anything like this, Margot 🙂 The red color creates a beautiful contrast with the color of the desert.
They certainly do stand out, don’t they! It would be amazing to come across them randomly out in the desert areas of Australia! Have a great weekend Linda! 🙂
Wow, I’ve never seen the likes of this flower before. Such a gorgeous, vibrant red!
Perhaps I should do a series on Australian Native Flora at some stage… we have so many weird, wonderful and beautiful flowers that probably aren’t often seen overseas. 🙂
Wow, those are so unusual, beautiful and very unusual. Never heard of them before.
They’re quite bizarre little flowers, aren’t they!? 🙂 Have a great weekend Suzanne!
Great photo for “nearing” Halloween, they look like little goblins with personality.
🙂 Love it! Quirky aren’t they?!
Wow, never seen it before. Very striking!
Fantastic… I’m happy to have shown you something new today dear Azita! 🙂
So unique! And that vibrant red? Gorgeous!
Thanks Francesca! So different from other flowers around the world… I think they’re fabulous!
